Rare example of a large Staffordshire "frog Surprise" mug or tankard, decorated with roses and dating from the early 19th Century.
Height 4" inches.
Width just under 4 1/2" inches excluding handle.
Weight 402 grams.
Unfortunately, at some point during its life, it has suffered a significant mishap, resulting in several broken pieces. It was found, crudely held together with animal glue and having taken pity upon it, has since been proffesionally restored.
